HISTORIC MAYWOOD
Sears Kit transformation in Arlington, VA

Between 1908 and 1940, Sears sold approximately 70,000 catalog or kit houses primarily to customers in East Coast and Midwest states. Once purchased through mail order, home building materials and plans were shipped to the site of the new home. Homeowners would then either build the home themselves; recruit the help of friends, family, and neighbors; or hire professionals to build the home.

The Lee Design Team was tasked with turning a variation of the Wexford model into a functional space for its modern day residents. The project went through the HALRB process (Historic board in Arlington) and passed unanimously!

This project was featured in the March edition of Arlington Magizine! Photography provided by Michael Ventura Photography.
